Honey Garlic Spareribs

Friday, September 28, 2012

Here's another yummy dish that I've made a few times for dinner. It is Chinese-inspired honey garlic spareribs! The reason why I call it 'Chinese-inspired' is because over here we have an International District and growing up we always have family dinners at different Chinese restaurants located there. One of the dishes that we love to order is honey garlic spareribs (or pork chops). But the restaurant dish is always fried which isn't the healthiest.. So I looked up a few recipes on how to re-create that dish without the extra step of frying. I found this recipe here and it pretty much tastes similar to what we order at the restaurant. Also, this is an simple and easy dish to make because all the cooking will be done via the oven. ;)

Final dish with rice before the step by step recipe.

Let's get started....

First pre-heat the oven to 375 degrees.

I had cut the recipe in half since it was just the two of us.. so here's the measurements I used:

1/4 cup honey
1/8 cup soy sauce (Used low-sodium)
1/8 cup distilled white vinegar
2 minced garlic cloves
1 tablespoon brown sugar

Two pounds of pork spareribs cut into 1 inch sections.

Stir the honey mixture well until brown sugar and honey is dissolved.

Add and stir in 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda which will make the honey mixture foamy.

Add the cut-up sections of spareribs into the mixture.

Make sure to coat the spareribs well.

Pour into a foil-lined baking dish. Then into the oven!

Total bake time of 45mins-1hour (depends how much spareribs you have).
Half-way thru I turned the spareribs over to make sure it was cooked evenly then back into the oven.
After it is done, it is ready to be served with rice. The honey sauce is amazing on the rice! :)

Hope you guys enjoy if you try this recipe out!
(I will need to post non-meat recipes soon)

Kobi kept coming into the kitchen to smell all the yummy smells.. hehe.. silly pup.
