Blazer: Forever 21 (Similar)
Top: TJ Maxx  (OR this)
Bottom: Forever 21 (Here)
Shoes: Nine West (Similar)
Scarf: H&M (Similar)
Bracelets: H&M (Similar) and Forever 21 (Similar)

This outfit was inspired by the upcoming pumpkin-filled holiday with the mix of black and orange colors. I had randomly found this printed top at TJ Maxx and wanted to dress it up by adding a black blazer and pointy toe pumps. I had also altered my orange scarf into an infinity scarf to wrap around my neck so no necklace is needed. This outfit would be safe and perfect for work if you're having an Halloween party tomorrow! :)
For me - I'll be off from work for the next few days but this is what I would've worn! haha..

Hope you guys have a fun Halloween!!

and....

Golden Bronze Eye Makeup Tutorial

Friday, October 26, 2012

Happy Friday!!

Just like I had promised, here's my first eye makeup tutorial for you guys! This eye look is what I had been wearing in this post and this post. I was asked several times to show how it was done so here it is!

Let's begin...

The products that I used to create this look.

Maybelline LE 24hr Color Tattoo Eyeshadow in Gold Shimmer
Large Shader brush
Fluffy brush
Medium shader brush
Stiff fluffy brush or Angled shader brush (either works)

Typically, I always use Urban Decay Primer Potion in Original before putting on any eyeshadows. But with this look, I've been using the Color Tattoo as an shadow base and it works out perfectly. You can still use primer but it's just an extra step I can skip in the mornings.

STEP 1:
Taking my ring finger and gliding on a layer of the Gold Shimmer as my shadow base on both lids.
I did two swipes on each eye to build the color I wanted.

STEP 2:

Took a fluffy brush and chose Buck in the Naked palette and blended it along my crease left to right.
I kept blending till there was no more harsh lines.

STEP 3:

Using the stiff fluffy brush or angled brush.. I chose both Darkhorse and Hustle and applied it on the outer "V" corner of my eye and blended into my crease.

STEP 4:

Taking the medium shader brush, I took Half Baked and patted it just on the middle of my lid.
It gave my eyes some extra golden shimmer.

STEP 5:

Using the large shader brush, I took Virgin and applied it on my brow bone for highlight.
Blend away the harsh lines if any.

STEP 6:
Apply your favorite black eyeliner and mascara and you're done!

FINAL LOOK:

Hope this step by step was easy and simple enough to follow along! Let me know what you guys think!
I'm still trying to find ways to do these types of tutorials so please bear with me. :)

Hope everyone has a great weekend!
I have something special coming up next week... so please stay tuned!!

Bargain Boots

Wednesday, October 24, 2012

Top: Old Navy (Similar)
Blazer: Forever 21 (Similar)
Bottom: Nordstrom Rack (OR this)
Boots: Old Navy (Here)
Bracelet: Forever 21 (Similar)
Purse: Louis Vuitton Speedy 30 (Here)

Please don't mind the wrinkles in my mustard top... I had ironed it before going to work and then suddenly wrinkles appeared again.. I just can't win. -_-

I recently bought these brown ankle boots from Old Navy after seeing my best friend wearing them in grey. I have been shopping around for some ankle boots/booties so I got 'boots envy' and had to go buy the same pair too! Of course she didn't mind... she even went with me! haha.. And I got a great deal on them too! Thanks to the recent 40% Stuff&Save one-day promo that they were having with BR/Gap/ON cardholders. I got lucky! Currently their website shows them on sale plus on top of that there's the 30% Stuff&Save promo going on for cardholders with code: STUFFSAVE. Not a cardholder? It's still 20% off online with promo code: ONSAVE20. Wasn't sponsored to put that.. just letting you guys know a great deal! Promo ends today!

As for my outfit, I wore the boots with my mustard top that I had wore in this outfit post and my heather grey knit blazer. For my blue skinnies, I rolled them up to create them to be like capris because I just loved that look better with my short legs.  ;)

What are some bargain boots have you scored lately?

The Four P's

Monday, October 22, 2012

Top: Nordstrom Rack  (OR this)
Cardigan: Old Navy (Similar)
Bottom: Forever 21 (Here)
Shoes: Nine West (Here)
Ring: DulceCandyxo (Here)

Happy Monday!!

You're probably wondering about the title of my post and is asking yourself, what are the four P's?

Well, it stands for Peplum, Peter Pan, & Pleather! haha... Clever huh??
(Try saying that five times fast...)

I have been seeing the trend of peplum popping up lately and I keep thinking to myself, 'I don't think I'll look good in that'... Well, after trying on a few and searching.. I finally found one that fits me. And even better that it comes with a pleather peter pan collar which is another trend that has been going around too for Fall. It's like a two trend in one top type of deal!! haha.. The sound of 'pleather' just makes me laugh a little and brings me back to the days of when I used to work at Banana Republic Petite in my teen years. Just putting away all the pleather pants we would get in shipments and the smell was just overwhelming.. (Oh god.. was it that long ago?!) And 'Peter Pan collar' just sounds Disney cute to me! :)

I do like this top though because not only does it fit but it's in cobalt blue which is a color that I've been picking up lately! Pair it with black skinnies and pointy toe heels and you're good to go! Seattle has had some on and off weather lately.. sun would come out then next hour it'll be pouring with rain with strong winds. So of course I wore a black cardigan with a cute flower on top acting as a 'brooch' to keep warm. ;)

What do you think about peplum tops and peter pan collars? Is that a trend you will stick to?

**Update** I realized after I had posted this that my peplum top came out to be looking like a purple color. haha... Either way it's cute!! It's really cobalt blue in person just wished the photos showed it. ;)

Meet Kobi

Wednesday, October 17, 2012

Today's post will not be about fashion, food, or beauty (well..sorta). I actually wanted to properly introduce the other boy in my life besides my Hubby. He is that special. ;)

Meet our fur-baby Kobi!

You've probably seen snippets of him from herehere, and here.

..16 months old..
..in teenage phase..
..loves baked chicken..
..scared of flies..
..loves to cuddle..
..too smart for his own good..
..sleeps..eats..play..sleeps..

Miss him when he was this tiny last summer.. photo taken during my bridal shower.
Everyday we learn something new with Kobi. He's one silly pup. He's our little boo boo. :)

Kobi has a blog too! But shame on me for not having enough time to manage both his and mine.. >.<

Above photo was taken around Halloween last year! I was playing around with some of my makeup and did a masquerade-ish butterfly mask. Ended up I didn't use it for my Halloween costume. Bummer.. But I really want to re-do it for a makeup tutorial. I promise! Same with the other tutorials I wanted to show as well!
I can't wait for Halloween! :)

Before I end this post, here are two Halloween pics of Kobi all dressed up! hehe..

Top: Shark Attack (last year) Bottom: Emo Dinosaur (this year)
You can totally tell he loved them.. >.<

I hope everyone is having a great week so far! We're almost to Friday!

Oxblood Wine and Grey

Monday, October 15, 2012

Top: Nordstrom Rack (Similar)
Bottom: Forever 21 (Here)
Shoes: TJ Maxx  (OR this)
Earrings:  Diamond studs
Bracelet: Jewelmint (Here)
Purse: Chanel Jumbo

Happy Monday!!

Thanks for all the wonderful feedback on my last post! I'm glad that my food posts are helpful. More to come.. :)

I got really lucky!! Before the Seattle rain came and hit us... I was able to squeeze this outfit in for photos before the gloom. Yay!! This lovely oxblood (name reminds me of oxtail.. o_0) wine top I got from the Rack has a slight asymmetrical hemline almost like hi-low but not too pronounced. I paired it with some grey skinny jeans and pumps. There's also a mini story behind this outfit, I originally wanted to wear a mens grey button-up shirt over the top (left opened) and skinny-belted at the waist with the sleeves 3/4 quarter rolled up. But unfortunately my future bro-in-law's grey button-up was slightly too big on me and none of Hub's dress shirts fit either. Oh well.. I tried.. would've looked nice together! haha..

Anyways - I also did my hair in my most simplest half-do hairstyle when I am in a no-fuss mood. My eye makeup has been my go-to lately almost everyday.. basically I did a smokey bronze with a dash of gold shimmer. I just love it, it goes with a lot of my outfits. I might have to do a makeup tutorial on it soon. It is really easy! ;)

How has the Autumn weather been treating you?

Oyster Chowder

Friday, October 12, 2012

Happy Foodie Friday!!

I wanted to show you guys a really simple recipe that I found here and made for dinner last night. Lately the weather has turned super chilly and suddenly I felt the need for hot stew/chowder to warm up with. Now if you don't like oysters then that's perfectly fine! You can substitute the oysters with shrimp, clams, or any seafood you want. Just take the base of the chowder and add what you like! :)

Finished look of the oyster chowder garnished with parsley.

Let's get started..

One jar of shucked oysters that I bought at the market in it's own juices.

Wash each oyster thoroughly in case of sandy grit under cold water.

Strain the oyster juices (to get rid of grit) to add into the pot later..

Two stalks of celery and one medium-sized sweet onion finely chopped.

Minced a small handful of italian flat-leaf parsley. Put to the side for garnish..

Add 5 tablespoons of butter in a medium pot on medium heat.

Add 1/4 cup of white flour to the melted butter to create a roux over a reduced med-low heat.
Stir for a couple mins until a caramel brown color.

Add and mix in the chopped celery and sweet onion with the roux.
Turn the heat back up to medium and cook for 3 mins.

Add in the strained oyster juices that was saved earlier.. the roux mixture will turn into a paste.

Slowly pour and stir in 1 3/4 cup of milk (I used low-fat) and 1/4 cup of heavy cream.

Mix well together and simmer for 15-20 mins over low heat.

Depends on the size, chop the oysters up into bite-sized pieces.
(Also - this is where you can add in your own preference of seafood!)

Add and stir the chopped oysters into the pot. Cook for 2-3 mins over med-low heat.

Add sea salt and finely ground black pepper to taste.

It is ready to be served! Serving size: 2-4

I had skipped the step of adding hot sauce or tabasco because I don't really care for the taste of tabasco. So it's up to your preference on adding it in earlier. But the Hubs loves tabasco so he added it to his own bowl.
If you try this recipe out, enjoy! Hope it keeps you nice and toasty from the cold weather. :)
