Djaouida Skincare Review [Seattle]

Friday, February 22, 2013

Happy Friday!!

Since I have been on the subject of skincare this week, I wanted to talk more about investing in maintaining your near-perfect skin. I've never thought to be the one to do facials or even go to a professional for the help of my skin. I thought just putting on daily serums and night creams would help do the trick but like I had said in my prior post here, I need to continue to take better care as I get older.

Ironically I was recently contacted by Djaouida of Djaouida Skincare with an offer for a luxurious facial. I was thrilled and agreed to setup an appointment with her. I was told to go to her website and pick from the different kinds of facials she had to offer. After looking through, I chose the European facial since it seemed to suit for my sensitive/oily skin the best. Her business is located in West Seattle which isn't far to where I live right now. So getting there was no problem at all. :)

On my way to my facial appointment.. ^__^

Upon arriving, I was greeted right away by Djaouida who then showed me to her room on where I'll be getting the facial. She was really sweet to let the Hubs take photos of her room before she got started. After he was done, he left me for my 1 hour and 15 mins appointment (he took Kobi on a nice long walk). And during the time, she explained what she will be doing and stepped out so I can quickly slip into my robe and suited myself into the nicely heated bed she had ready for me. It was instant comfort I must say. haha..

Me sans makeup and ready for my first facial!

The nicely heated bed with added comfort of pillows and soft blankets.
Djaouida makes sure each of her client is always 100% comfortable.

Her station of products that she had ready from the start of the appointment.
All was used on my face minus the Red Velvet Yankee Candle.. which smelled amazing btw! haha..

The facial felt so good and relaxing! And chatting with Djaouida was so much fun by getting to know her and her passion for skincare. She is filled with great tips on what to do for your skin and she even started her own beauty blog to talk in depth of the benefits of certain items you can easily get or have at home already!

During the time, she told me my skin actually had some dry patches on the forehead which surprised me because I always had somewhat oily skin. But she told me by the change of cold weather and turning up the heat in my car and home, it does affect my skin greatly and my skin needs to stay hydrated. I always thought otherwise but I finally had a professional tell me what's really going on. So thankful! And one thing that I loved about her facial was the fact that all of the products she used are all natural which means no harsh chemicals to the face. I enjoyed the sea kelp and green tea face mask and pomegranate polishing cream! One of the few products I actually remember her telling me because I was in deep relaxation from the hand/arm/shoulder massages while my mask was setting. ;)

Prices: $75 for facials and she also offers sugaring services which varies in prices (here).

After an 1 hour and 15 mins flying by... my face was totally hydrated and glowing!!

Right after my appointment... I was so dazed! My boys were waiting for me. :)

So if you're living in or visiting the Seattle area and in need of an amazing facial (or any sugaring services!). Go make an appointment with Djaouida (contact info here)! You will enjoy every bit of it like I did! I was so pleased with the results that I plan on setting up another appointment in the near future to keep my skin nice and even-toned!

Are you a Yelper like me?? Go check out my Yelp review too!
I only Yelp on businesses I want.. not just because.

Have you ever tried a facial? How was your experience? I would love to know!
Also, today is the last day to enter my giveaway by Charleston Naturally! Don't miss out!

Disclaimer: Djaouida Skincare did offer me the complimentary European facial so I can review.
But all honest opinions and thoughts expressed were my own.

So I paired it with my lace peplum top that I got a while back which I didn't even realize it was peplum style until I put it on... shows what I know what's in my closet.. And put on my repeated/beloved leopard pumps and I have my outfit for the challenge!

How do you guys like to wear black and white?

**Closed** Product Review: Dr. Hauschka Regenerating Eye Cream and Normalizing Day Oil + Giveaway [Sponsored]

Friday, February 15, 2013

Happy Friday!!

Who has a skincare routine that they try to do everyday? I do!! As I get older (hitting that big 3-0 recently), I get more paranoid just thinking about wrinkles and how my skin will age. And since right now I don't have hardly any wrinkles (thanks asian genes!), I try my best to prevent them in the early stage before they even have a chance to form right now. So every day and night I do my usual skincare routine and make sure I put on all the creams and lotions on my face. It's been a habit that is good for my skin in the long term!

The company, Charleston Naturally was super nice and offered to send me some skincare products to try out as part of my regular skincare routine. And since I've always on the hunt for new skincare products, I was happy when they sent me two Dr. Hauschka products to try out and see how I like it. They also offer all kinds of organic hair, body, and beauty products that's safe and effective for you and the whole family. Something that's really good to look into. :)

First Impression: I was really excited when I saw they sent me the regenerating eye cream. If I had to choose any skincare product that I'm semi-obsessed about it would be eye creams. I've tried a couple and knowing how wrinkles can easily form around the eyes. I'm all about trying to minimize those as much as possible. According to the instructions, this can be used under makeup so I treated it as a daytime eye cream. For the past three weeks, it's been the first product that I put on underneath my eyes before putting on my primer and foundation. It absorbs into the skin fairly quickly leaving no greasy residue at all which is a plus! And since I've been using this daily, I can see a slight change in my skin which has appeared more firmer looking to me. As for the normalizing day oil, this is mainly to help diminish the appearance of pores and reduce blemishes. And since I do have very few blemishes, I dotted the day oil around my cheeks and nose area daily just to see. But unfortunately I started to break out..*sad face* I'm not entirely sure if it was the day oil or the new foundation I was using but I stopped using the day oil after a week and my skin cleared up. So I'm going to say it was the day oil.. I have sensitive skin so any new products that I use, I carefully monitor my skin everyday to make sure I notice any change - good or bad.

Both products mentions that it helps mature skin but like I had said earlier, it honestly doesn't hurt to use it while we're younger to help prevent for the long term. :)

Dotted under the eyes and gently rub the eye cream around.

Prices: $58.96 for the Regenerating eye cream & $42.96 for the Normalizing day oil.

Overall: If I were to purchase either products, I would definitely go with the regenerating eye cream. It's lightweight and it may be an extra step in my makeup routine but it absorbs so quickly that it's not even a hassle. It also has a light citrus smell that is not bad at all. The normalizing day oil I might give that another try some day but as of now, I'm holding off. I think if someone had non-sensitive skin then I would say give it a try. But my skin is so fickle sometimes, I have to be careful.

Now onto the best part!! Charleston Naturally was generous enough to offer one lucky SheisLovely reader their own Dr. Hauschka regenerating eye cream.
It's simple on how to enter to win this awesome product!

 1. The first two steps within the Rafflecopter are mandatory in order to be entered.
2. The other steps are not mandatory but it would give you more chances to win!

Happy Pre-Valentine's Day!!

I decided to mix things up a bit for a Valentine's Day outfit. So instead of the typical reds and pinks that's been all around. I wore this black sequined sweater with animal print skinnies to work and added some glitzy accessories. At the end of the day, I received lots of compliments especially on my plum heels! Which I felt added some glam. ;) Also, I went with a magenta/plum color on the lips and I'm good to go for Valentine's Day with the Hubs! We will be staying in with a nice dinner and wine. My kind of Valentine's! hehehe...

What are your plans for Valentine's Day?

Happy Monday!

How was everyone's weekend? My weekend consisted with eating..shopping.. eating...and more eating! From a work dinner party to Chinese New Years celebration, my tummy is pretty much full with everything I had stuffed into it. >.< So with that, I had to stay comfy with my stretchy (thank goodness!) zip ankle pants and Proenza Schouler sweatshirt that I got from the Neiman x Target collab. I even dug up this puffy vest that I bought longggg time ago at AE. It was in the way back of my closet and I had bought this after I had graduated high school. I always do a 'spring cleaning' twice a year and donate all my unwanted clothes that I don't wear anymore or fit. And this was one that has been on that maybe list a couple times but I could never give it up! haha.. I can now say that I'm glad I didn't throw this into the donation bag because more and more I'm loving it again.. ;)

Speaking of shopping earlier, did anyone buy anything from the Prabal Gurung x Target collab? I stayed up till almost midnight on Saturday clicking the refresh button a thousand times (maybe exaggerating but I was clicking a lot!) The items were finally posted at around 11:45pm and I was in such a hurry that soon I was in checkout before I knew it. haha.. I think this turned out way better than the NM x Target collab..IMO. I had bought these and these.. I can't wait to get them in the mail! Oh, of course I used my trusty Ebates! Can't beat getting cash-back on designer deals. :)

Roasted Lamb Dinner

Friday, February 8, 2013

Happy Foodie Friday!

It's been awhile since I've posted a food post. I've been cooking a lot and would post it on Instagram and Twitter.. but haven't had the time to take the photos and blog about it. So here is an easy dinner that I had cooked for Hubby and I for New Years Day. I know that's been over a month ago but I finally got around to edit the photos and put this together for you guys. :)

Here's the final lamb dish with two sides plus sauce. Which I will show you how to make! Surprisingly, it took me under 30-35 mins to make everything! Seriously...just have to learn how to utilize the time in between each dish.

Let's get started...

Salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder the rack of lamb on both sides.
Place into a pan on med-high to brown on each side. 5-7 mins for each side.

Once browned, place into a foil-lined baking dish with bone side facing down.
Cover the ends with foil so they won't burn while roasting. Pre-heat the oven to 375 degrees, and bake the rack of lamb for about 30 mins depending on the thickness of the meat.

My cute owl timer that I got at Cost World Market! So adorbs!!

In the same pan, add half a sweet onion (sliced) and cook for about 5 mins until slightly brown.
Add salt and pepper for taste.

Add two cups of sliced mushrooms to the onions and sauteed till the mushrooms are cooked.

Add one cup of heavy cream to the mushrooms and onions.
Cook about 10 mins till the cream is mixed well in. Once done, put the sauce to the side in a bowl.

After the sauce is completed, add three stripes of chopped bacon to a pan on med-high.
Cook until crispy!

 My piggie bowl! ^__^

Once the bacon turns crispy, put it aside into a bowl.

In the bacon fat, add about a pound of brussel sprouts (cut in halves).
Cook for about 10-15mins on med-high. Add a little salt and pepper for taste.

Once the brussel sprouts are done cooking, put them into a dish and add the crispy bacon on top!

During this time, the rack of lamb is done in the oven.. take it out to let it rest for 5 mins.

This is a side dish of roasted onion potatoes. I quartered six medium Yukon potatoes and added a tablespoon of vegetable oil and a packet of Lipton dry onion soup mix. Mix well then put them into a baking dish. SUPER easy!! Bake for 25 mins when you put in the lamb at the same time together. Two dishes in one oven makes it so simple.

And there you have it! It may seem like a lot of work but in reality, it's not at all! I have made this dinner several times and I'm all about keeping things nice and simple. :)

Hope you guys enjoy and maybe try one of these dishes (or all three plus sauce) out!

Have a great weekend!!

Happy Wednesday!

Thank you guys all so much for the sweet birthday wishes!! I had a wonderful and fun birthday and was surrounded by loved ones. I ate so much yummy foods that I requested for and couldn't have asked for a better way to spend my special day. :)

If you saw on my Instagram, my cube at work was bombed with pastel colored streamers and glitter....Like really..... EVERYWHERE. All over my laptop, notebooks, pens, stapler, etc... they were all covered with sparkles! I must admit, it was really pretty and colorful. haha..

I tried to clean up yesterday.. but my wastebasket was full and that was even half of what I had.. -_- I guess I am loved at work. hahaha.. What a great way to ring into the thirties! ;)

So we all know that mint has been around and it's considered one of the favorite colors for Spring. Lately every clothing store I've seen has been dressing their mannequins up in mint especially in mint skinnies. And what a pretty color to color-block with as well! Originally I had bought this when Kohl's was having their Black Friday sale. But it ended up being different than what I had thought in person so I returned it and got this cobalt blue sweater instead. I love the way how it ties in the back! Hubby actually tied this bow in the picture for me. Not the greatest looking bow but you gotta love the man for trying! haha.. ;) I think both colors work well together and I even added some leopard pumps!

How would you style mint?
